MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

There has been a dramatic rise in the number of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in recent years, as developing countries and emerging markets emulate this trend long evident in the West. Acquisitions globally rose some six percent over the past five years; in countries like Indonesia this figure grew over twenty-five percent, as M&A appealed to firms across the globe. Many of the legacy conglomerates were badly shaken by the 1998 Asian financial crisis, and in the new 'Reformation Era' M&A has proved an attractive alternative for rising companies. N&A has experience and expertise in this area, and as business in Indonesia becomes more transparent and ruled by the principles of good governance there will most likely be a new wave of mergers & acquisitions.
